How your parcel helps

Through the 2 x Christmas campaign, you can help people in need. You will enable us to provide real, effective support for people living in poverty in Switzerland and in four countries in eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Support in Switzerland

Post Office or Coop: your parcels help these people

As many as 743 000 people live in poverty in Switzerland. A single person living below the poverty line has to get by on CHF 2300 a month. A two-parent family with two children has less than CHF 4159 to live on.

The 2 x Christmas campaign provides aid for people in Switzerland directly. The basic necessities collected are distributed through the various SRC cantonal associations throughout the country.

Planet 13 and 2 x Christmas

Planet 13 is one of the institutions supported by the 2 x Christmas campaign. This internet café provides people from various social and cultural backgrounds with a place to meet up and find support.

The café’s customers have access to the internet, can print and scan documents, receive help writing job applications or filling in forms, and can obtain legal advice on social welfare law.

Every year, the Basel-Stadt Red Cross donates parcels from the 2 x Christmas campaign to Planet 13. The goods are then distributed to people in need at the internet café, bringing some joy into their lives.

Support abroad

Your digital aid parcels

Thanks to donations to the 2 x Christmas campaign, support can be given to roughly 5390 people living in poverty in Armenia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova. The beneficiaries live in precarious circumstances. The cold winter months make their already difficult circumstances even more severe.

The economies of these four countries are struggling due to high unemployment rates and spiralling living expenses, such as for food, medicines and heating fuel. This inevitably aggravates the situation of people living at or below the poverty line.

Vouchers and cash are used to help these people purchase warm winter clothing, heating fuel, food and even urgently needed medication. This significantly eases the strain on the family budget and helps them cope through the winter.
